CALs

Is that client access license? I think all Domino / Traveler / Sametime are part of a support bundle, and as long you are paying the yearly fee, you get all the updates.

CAL

Yes it is Client Access License. CAL is required to connect client to Domino. For upgrade Domino to new version you must pay for Domino license, but no need to renew CAL's. So older clients version (Lotus Notes) can connect to new version of Domino. Sametime is different, previous versions before had Entry edition which was free. Sametime 9 require Notes 9 clients as I got feedback form support. So that is confusing me. Traveler is free, but also it require CALs. So If i pay for another Domino license (for traveler separate), I allready have CALs, so my question is - Can users connect to new Traveler server (Domino) if they haven't renew their CALs?

No new "CALs" necessary

Hello Joe,

If I understand you correctly than you are paying the maintenance fee and therefore are entitled to installing any updates for domino. In this case, you made sure you are entitled for installing Domino 9.

I don't know of any license model which would not allow you to install/update your traveler server in a current version. But in doubt you are better of asking your IBM Partner, who sold your licenses.

There is no need to do anything on client side, when you perform a simple in-place-update.

Hope  that clarifies it,

Manuel
